What won’t change

What endures, whatever builds the thing.

The tools change every year. The people on the other side of the work change very slowly.

  1. ObservedChanged since your last visit

    People still have bodies

Hands, eyes, attention, fatigue, the distance a thumb can reach. Every interface and every building still meets a body at some point, and the body has not been updated.

  2. ObservedChanged since your last visit

Someone still decides what is worth making

Generation answers “how”. It does not answer “whether”. Deciding what deserves to exist, and taking responsibility for it, remains the centre of the job.

  3. ObservedChanged since your last visit

    Trust is still earned slowly

People trust a product the way they trust a person: through consistency over time. A system that can change its interface overnight still has to earn trust at the same old speed.

  4. PredictionNear futuremedium confidenceChanged since your last visit

    Context is still local

A site, a culture, a regulation, a neighbourhood. Global models produce global answers, and the designer’s knowledge of a particular place and particular people becomes more valuable, not less.
